August 2015

August 2015 started with our summer vacation that we were looking forward to. On August 2nd, we left for Marmaris. When back home, we spent the next week visiting our parents and running errands.

After 2 weeks of being away from work and overtime hours it was hard for me to let go Mr.T to his old routine but sadly life goes on. And besides, we had an amazing trip waiting for us that had been making us super excited. The next days were calm and quiet; cooking, reading and planning our upcoming trip and also living the post vacation blues.

When days were quiet, in August, I’ve finished reading  Titus Groan, the first book of Gormenghast Trilogy by Mervyn Peake. This book was waiting on my To Read List for a long time and I’m glad I read it because if you like gothic fantasy novels like me, this trilogy is just the right thing for you.

After Titus Groan, I again started reading a pending novel; The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway. I finished it last week and started reading Siddartha by Hermann Hesse. By the way these were all the early birthday presents that were given by my husband. We made a deal last year that for my birthday, no gift is acceptable other than books. Only books. The best deal I’ve made in my entire life! What could be a better gift than books? Maybe cupcakes? Well, now that I have my beautiful books waiting for me.

One of the weekends during August, Mr. T’s sister and husband came to visit us in Ankara. It was a fun and nice but also “we ate too much” weekend. But no regrets…

With the exception of watching our country being dragged to a civil war by the number one son of a bitch of the entire world, August was nice to us. I hope September brings peace…

The fall has started and I wish everyone a great pre-winter season!
