Another year that we’re getting ready to leave behind. 365 days. Lazy days, busy days, hot summer days, freezing cold winter days, hard days, good days, birthdays, wedding days… 365 days that we’ll leave behind with all the good and the bad.
We have been living in Ankara for almost two and a half years now. This will be our third New Year’s Day celebration here.
In general, it was a busy year, especially for Mr. T. He has worked his ass off for both of us. But we managed to make beautiful memories in this busyness. We paid visits to our families. A LOT. Family time is always the best and it’s never enough. We had guests; our families, friends… Good times spent with good people.
Summer 2015 is one to remember. We had a nice summer vacation and also we were lucky enough to visit my favorite city in the world, Paris and celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary. Four years and I’m still feeling the luckiest woman alive…
2015 was also a courageous year when it comes to our health issues. Because both Mr. T and I had our surgeries that we had been postponing. But the best part was; We quit smoking. For 8 months now, we’re living the smoke-free life. We tried to eat healthy. Some days we did good, some days were sinfully unhealthy but we survived. :)
The Movies of 2015. We watched really nice movies and series this year. Our favorites are; Whiplash, The Return, I Origins, The Broken Circle Breakdown, The Martian, The Hunt. We saw really good series too. Breaking Bad, Narcos, Mozart In The Jungle, Rick and Morty became our favorites. We also saw two theater plays. I know it’s not much but at least better than none.
My 2015 reading performance was HORRIBLY poor. I’ve read only 17 books which correspond to 4000 pages. This is very embarrassing if we consider my reading challenge of 50 books… Sorry Reading Gods, I’ll be a much better reader in 2016, I promise. But still, my favorites among them; Titus Groan and Siddhartha.
When it comes to music, I became a total Spotify person and it says my first song of 2015 was Feeling Good by Nina Simone, my top artist was Katy Perry (please don’t judge me…) and my top track is Bitch Better Have My Money by Rihanna! I’ve listened 18.000 minutes which means 294 hours or 12 days. Also 1.406 different artists were on my list as well as 2.341 different songs. It also showed that Pink Martini, Pauline Croze and Elisabeth Anais rocked our summer 2015.
New things happened; I changed my hair colour -yesss, insanely new, I knoooow!- and I’ve started a new training program lately; one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Both careerwise and personally, this was what I needed. I made three videos this year; one just after the new year, one for the summer vacation and one for our Paris trip. Good, fun memories…
Though it was a downbeat and hopeless year for the country I live and again though it made us think that we’re living in a dead end and desperate wreck, I sometimes feel hopeful. Yes, I still believe from time to time things may change and we can wake up to beautiful mornings and can say the same thing for the rest of the day. But I’m still waiting for the time that under the leadership of cats, all the animals have the control over the whole world and extinct the human race.
This was our year. I’ll remember 2015 as a good year. We’re alive, we’re healthy and we’re aware. But I want to remember 2016 as a year that I say “Magic does really happen!” And I hope magic finds you too in 2016.
