Well, well, well…
Guess who is back? I’m here to write July and August monthly recaps. Yes, two monthly recaps in one post. Why? Because I barely remember July and almost about to forget August. So here we go.
After a not summer-like June, July was like heaven. It was sunny and it was hot. I spent most of my days by the pool and benefitted from the sun. We visited my parents in their village house in Kastamonu. The last time I’ve been there was in 2008, 10 years ago and with Mr. T, we never had the chance to visit together. It was his first time and It was a beautiful weekend. After days passed by swimming, reading, cooking, traveling and netflixing, the most beautiful days had arrived: The vacation days!
On the 23rd of July we left for the holly summer vacation. I don’t now why but this year I craved for summer holiday. I was so eager to dive in the sea. It was a much needed 10 days for us; full of sun, sea, sand, beer and french fries. I’ll remember it as one of the best holidays we had.
On our way back home, we stopped by the antique city Aphrodisias in Aydın. I looove ancient cities. They amaze me every single time. Aphrodisias was extremely fascinating. The city, the museum, the monuments, the statues… Everything was over the top. I feel so lucky to be able to visit this place. Plus, after the ancient city we drove to the recent famous lake; Salda.
We got back home in August 2nd and hit the road again two weeks later to visit our parents as there was a religious holiday. In between those days, we had a chance to have another picnic. But August just flew by! So did summer. How I wish to go back to the beginning of spring…
During July and August I did read. I’ve FINALLY read The Earthsea series by Ursula K. Le Guin and I can’t stop asking myself why the hell I read these books so late… I’ve read A Wizard of Earthsea, The Tombs of Atuan, The Farthest Shore, Tehanu, Tales from Earthsea and The Other Wind. I’ve read quite books after The Earthsea Cycle but I’m still having the book hangover. After the series I’ve read Spiritual Growth by Sanaya Roman, Kuyucaklı Yusuf by Sabahattin Ali, Epitaph of a Small Winner by Machado de Assis, The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy and White Nights by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. I also read two graphic novels by Daniel Clowes; Patience and Ghost World.
I really can’t remember what we watched. I kept watching The Vampire Diaries, I’m on the 7th season! But we wanted to watch a new series and decided on The Crown. It’s amazing and we’ll continue to watch it.
Well, that was it; our summer as far as I could remember.
I wish you all an amazing fall!
